Your Questions Answered

I have put together these common questions to help you feel informed and comfortable about our time together. My practice centres your needs, and I want you to feel steady as we begin this process.

Starting Out With Me

How do I start sessions with you

I don't require a GP referral for you to get started, though if you’re planning to claim Medicare rebates, you’ll need a plan from your doctor. Simply fill out my form, and I will reach out to chat about our potential path forward.

Who do I usually support

I work beside neurodivergent adolescent girls, young adults, and gender-diverse folk seeking a self-affirming way of life. If you are looking for a practitioner who honours your nervous system and identity, I would love to hear from you.

What ages do I work with

I mainly support adolescents aged 12 and up, through to folks in their late 30s. However, my practice is flexible, so please reach out if you feel my neuroaffirming lens is the right fit for you outside this specific age range.

How I Run Sessions

What can I expect in a session

I hold sessions via Telehealth and ensure they are interest-led and collaborative. There is no 'proper' way to show up here; I prioritise your comfort above all else. You can explore the Mental Health OT page for more on what we do.

Do I offer telehealth

Yes, I provide flexible virtual therapy. Telehealth is a wonderful tool for many neurodivergent people, as it allows me to meet you while you remain in your own safe and familiar environment.

How often will we meet

I base appointment frequency entirely on what feels sustainable for your life and energy. While some people prefer weekly support, others find fortnightly or monthly check-ins better. We will decide this together.

Communication and Care

How I involve families

With adolescents, I work closely with the family to help the home environment remain affirming. For young adults, involving others is your choice. I believe in building a support network that fully honours your personal autonomy.

If I find communicating hard

That is completely okay with me. I design my sessions to be flexible. We can use visuals, writing, creative tools, or simply sit in shared silence if talking feels heavy. I prioritise a space where you can express yourself in the safest way for you.

Do I work with other providers

Yes, I often liaise with schools, psychologists, and GPs. I ensure all advocacy focuses on your authentic needs, keeping your neurodivergent voice at the centre of every clinical conversation we have with other professionals.

The Details

How are sessions funded

I accept NDIS (self and plan managed) and Medicare Mental Health Care Plans. I also work with private health insurance and private-paying clients. We can chat about the best funding pathway for your situation.

My cancellation policy

I understand that life and energy levels flux. I ask for as much notice as possible, typically 48 hours, so I can offer that time to someone else. I strive to be fair while ensuring my practice remains sustainable.

How I protect your privacy

Your safety is my priority. I store all clinical notes on a secure, encrypted platform and only share information with your explicit consent, unless there is a serious risk to your safety or the safety of another person.

Support for my Peers

Do I offer supervision

Yes, I provide neuroaffirming supervision for Occupational Therapists and health workers. I help professionals clinicalise their work through a neurodivergent-lens while prioritising their own wellbeing and sustainability.

Finding my tools and resources

I offer a variety of creative tools and neuroaffirming resources through my shop. I designed these to support Understand Yourself and sensory safety for individuals, families, and other practitioners.
