About

Hi, I'm Tessa.

I'm a Mental Health Occupational Therapist and the founder of Our Mindful Youth. I created Our Mindful Youth because I wanted to offer a different kind of therapy experience, one that focuses not only on mental health, but on helping young people build lives that feel meaningful, authentic, and sustainable.

Over the years, my practice has naturally evolved towards supporting neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, adolescent girls, young women, and gender-diverse people. I have found myself continually drawn to this work and feel privileged to support young people as they navigate identity, mental health, relationships, education, independence, and life's many transitions.

My goal is to create a space where clients feel genuinely understood, accepted, and supported to better understand themselves and build a life that works for them.

A little more about me

I am a proud queer woman and have worked with the LGBTQIA+ community for many years now.

I work primarily with:

  • autistic and ADHD adolescent women

  • queer and LGBTQIA+ individuals

  • gender diverse and gender non-conforming people

  • people experiencing anxiety, burnout, emotional overwhelm, identity exploration, school refusal, or nervous system dysregulation

Having experienced firsthand the power of connection and inclusion, I wanted to build a space where others could access that same feeling; where therapy not only supports growth and recovery, but also cultivates belonging.

I hold a:

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Art Therapy, and

  • An accredition under Medicare to support clients with Mental Health Care Plans (please refer to FAQs for more information).

I have done an extensive amount of extra training to supplement my formal degrees. I combine evidence-based occupational therapy with art therapy to provide trauma-informed care that supports adolescents and adults to build resilience, independence, and meaningful connection in their everyday life. With extensive experience working alongside young LGBTQIA+ people and neurodivergent individuals, my commitment is to providing safe, affirming, and inclusive support for people of all identities and backgrounds.
