Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve gathered these questions to help you feel comfortable and informed about our journey together. My practice is first and foremost about you, and I want you to feel reassured as we begin this process.

Access and Referrals

How do I make a referral to see you?

You don't need a GP referral to get started, though one is required if you are planning to claim Medicare rebates. You can simply reach out through my referral form, and I will get back to you to talk about how we might work together.

Am I eligible for your services?

I partner with neurodivergent adolescent girls, young adults, and gender-diverse people who are seeking a more sustainable, self-affirming way of living. If you feel you need support with your nervous system or identity, I'd love to hear from you.

What age range do you work with?

I primarily work with adolescents (ages 12+) and young adults through to their late 30s. However, my practice is flexible, so please reach out if you feel my neuroaffirming approach is the right fit for you outside this range.

What Sessions are Like

What do sessions actually involve?

Sessions are led via Telehealth, and are interest-led and collaborative. There is no 'right' way to be in a session, your comfort and safety are the priority. Please explore the Mental Health OT page to explore what sessions can focus on.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes, I offer flexible virtual therapy sessions. Telehealth can be a wonderful option for many neurodivergent people as it allows you to stay in your own safe environment while we work together.

How often will we have appointments?

Appointment frequency is entirely based on your needs and what feels sustainable for your life. Some people prefer weekly support, while others find fortnightly or monthly check-ins more manageable. We will decide this together.

Support and Communication

How are parents or caregivers involved?

For adolescents, I work closely with the family to ensure the home environment is supportive and affirming. For young adults, caregiver involvement is entirely your choice. I believe in building a support network that honors the individual's autonomy.

What if I find communication difficult?

That is completely okay. My sessions are designed to be flexible. We can use visuals, writing, creative tools, or simply sit in shared silence if talking feels overwhelming. I prioritize creating a space where you can express yourself in whatever way feels safest.

Do you collaborate with other professionals?

Yes, I often coordinate with schools, psychologists, GPs, and other allied health professionals. I ensure that all advocacy is focused on your authentic needs and that your neurodivergent voice remains at the center of the conversation.

Practicalities

How is therapy funded?

I accept NDIS (self and plan managed), Medicare Mental Health Care Plans, and Private Health Insurance. I also take private-paying clients. We can discuss the best funding pathway for you during our first chat.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that life and energy levels change. I ask for as much notice as possible for cancellations. Generally, I require 48 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee, as this allows me to offer the time to someone else on the waitlist.

How do you handle my privacy?

Your privacy and safety are paramount. All clinical notes and records are stored on a secure, encrypted platform. I only share information with your explicit consent, except in rare cases where there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s.

Support for Professionals

Do you offer professional supervision?

Yes, I provide neuroaffirming supervision for Occupational Therapists and other health workers. I focus on helping professionals clinicalize their practice through a neurodivergent-lens while prioritizing therapist wellbeing.

Where can I find your resources and products?

I offer a range of creative tools and neuroaffirming resources through my shop. These are designed to support self-understanding and sensory safety for individuals, families, and practitioners alike.
